Volunteer at NSCF

You can get involved with our vibrant Farm community by becoming a volunteer. Farming, nursery, construction and kitchen volunteers are welcome. We also occasionally need people with professional or trade skills (even off-site help, if you can’t get to the farm): building, electrical, plumbing, welding, accounting, legal, to name a few.

There are lots of meaningful ways to be a part of the Farm community. Volunteers work in teams to assist in:

  • Maintaining gardens
  • Nursery production
  • Market gardens production
  • Cooking and food processing
  • Green waste recycling
  • Animal care
  • Construction and tool maintenance
  • Assisting with events
  • Administration, promotions, & IT support
  • Youth education programs

Volunteer registration

Please note that most volunteering happens on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings. There are also limited weekend and Friday opportunities as well.

We run a free tour and volunteer induction session, usually on the first Tuesday of each month (the second Tuesday in January). Please contact Emma at edufarm.mgr@nscf.org.au to register for a volunteer induction.

For Youth Education Volunteers, please complete this form. For enquiries, contact the Youth Education Coordinator on youthedn@nscf.org.au. Volunteers will need a Blue Card (Working with children check).

Requirements for all volunteers

If any of the above vacancies appeal to you, then please register to attend the farm induction session so that you can be allocated a role, receive a safety induction, and then be covered under the farm’s insurance.

Wear enclosed shoes, a hat and gloves (NSCF can provide gloves if you require them).

Please refrain from coming in if you are sick / experiencing flu-like symptoms. Maintain good hygiene when you are at the Farm by washing your hands or sanitising when required.

Morning break – 10:00 am – 10:30 am (tea and coffee provided)
Lunch – 12:30 pm – 1:00 pm (Tuesdays to Thursdays free meal provided for volunteers)
