The Markets will be open as usual from this Sunday, 16th of March.
Staff and volunteers are working hard to clean up after Northey Street City Farm experienced significant flooding in the aftermath of Cyclone Alfred.
We can’t wait to welcome you back to the markets, and we hope to see you this weekend! We know our farmers and businesses will appreciate your patronage. 💛
Here’s some information you should know, if you are planning to attend:
💵 The ATM is not operational at the moment. We recommend planning accordingly. If you would like to use cash, please withdraw before attending the markets.
🎍There may not be as much seating as usual, and other amenities may not be available, but we will do our best to deliver as much as we can. Temporary toilets will be set up.
🌾 Although we will be doing our very best, please be aware that we may not be completely done with our cleanup by this weekend. The site will still carry some risks, so make sure to wear enclosed shoes and sanitise your hands regularly to protect from any nasty microbes.
🌻 If you would like to support us financially through a difficult time, you can donate to our flood relief fund here: https://www.givenow.com.au/nscf-floods/ – we would be deeply grateful.
🫶 Alternatively, if you don’t mind getting your hands dirty, come visit us at the Farm and volunteer to help us clean up this mess! Times below:
– Wednesday 12th March, 9am-3pm
– Thursday 13th March, 9am-3pm
– Friday 14th March, TBC

The Market itself is not certified, but we would like to pursue this option in the future.

Queensland Department of Health provides guidelines for food stalls:
We welcome buskers to play in our market without notifying us.
Please read the busking guidelines beforehand.
Northey Street Organic Market is constantly striving to improve consumer habits and our Waste Management Plan has been developed to help avoid or reduce waste, reuse where possible and recycle. General waste and recycling bins are currently supplied for customers during the Market.
You can help by bringing shopping bags, reusable cups, cutlery, reusing produce packaging, refusing plastics and one-use packaging, and by using the right bin (general waste or recycling).
We have several activities within the farm for children. We have the wonderful volunteer Bob Mud who runs an Earth Arts stall, teaching children how to make mud creations and how to appreciate the earth.
We also have a swing set and lots of toys for the kids to play with.
