Summer Solstice at Northey Street City Farm
2020 Date to be announced
The summer solstice, also known as midsummer, is when the Sun reaches its highest position in the sky and is the day with the longest period of daylight. Many cultures give Fire powerful symbolism, from the first light in creation stories, to our inner fire of divinity, passion and power. It is a creation, destruction and transformational energy. Our Summer Solstice ritual will honour this energy. Gratitude for the life force of the sun and creation, acknowledgement to the recent destruction of the world bushfires, lives and homes, and calling in to the second half of Summer and the transformation to shorter, cooler days. We will close our ceremony with a special call to the water element so that the earth can regenerate, and a call out for climate science to lead our actions in the future.
