The Sunday Organic Farmers Market is open every Sunday in December and January, because we value our market regulars who choose an organic lifestyle and shop here every week to support local organic farmers, ethical gifts makers, organic re-sellers, healing health and beauty services and products, local artists and buskers, and delicious food and beverage makers. Where would we be without people who care for the earth, care for their bodies and care for community, and who believe that a more sustainable future is possible?
Northey Street City Farm is a not for profit social enterprise. Our Sunday Organic Farmers Market helps us to support the City Farm Nursery, organic gardening, and permaculture community education, and to work towards our aim of “all living sustainably”.
The Markets offer so much on a Sunday morning from good wholesome organic breakfasts, with vegan and gluten free options, to a range of ice cold juices and green smoothies, to a variety of iced chai and kombucha. The kids will love to watch the oranges being squeezed in a big squeeze machine and to taste the orange ice-blocks and gelato through summer! Of course the best organic coffee in town can be found at the Markets too. We very much appreciate waste warriors who come to the market with their own keep cups, as reducing waste is good for the earth. Refuse first before re-using and recycling! It does actually feel great to not have to use single use plastic to get your morning cuppa!
Ethical Gifts include beauty products hand made from essential oils, soaps, moisturizers and lip balms to hand made bees wax candles, jewelry, bespoke art, family games, hand made paper notebooks, and second hand clothes.
There’s organic farmers and grocery stalls with so much fruit, veg, nuts, seeds, beans, grains, seeds, herbs and spices on offer. We have some farmers selling top quality products like highly rated olive oil. Some nutritionists delivering coconut yogurt and activated muesli for your gut health. Other stalls sell an array of grains like semolina, polenta, granola and hemp seeds. There are so many milk options available: cow’s milk, coconut milk, almond milk, hemp milk, raw milk, and even Cleopatra’s Bath Milk! There’s bread, pastries, quiches and croissants, cheese, eggs, meat, seafood, and specialist turkey stalls. Vegan breakfasts, desserts and cakes to order and specialty food like homemade preserves and jams, organic honey and a huge variety of spiced, pickled and fermented food.
The specialist food and drink providers with organic biscuits, dark chocolate, and natural sparkling mineral water are worth the trip to the markets themselves.
You can get loo paper, dishwashing liquid and laundry liquid that is not harmful to the environment from our stallholders, so there’s no need to shop anywhere else!
Stay for an eyebrow threading, a traditional Japanese Incense healing, a massage or tarot reading.
The kids will love to play in the Green with clay and mud and sand and water – all natural earth connected play. The best kind of education is free and earth based!
There’s buskers, a country style atmosphere and good vibes.
So thank you to our regular market goers – we’ll see you on every Sunday in December and January!
