Our 12-month Advanced Permaculture Skills program is specially designed for people wanting a fast-track experience in designing, implementing, maintaining & monitoring regenerative systems
The Advanced Permaculture Skills Program is most suited for people who:
- have completed a Permaculture Design Certificate and want to gain more hands-on experience and knowledge.
- have taken short courses and want to know how to actually DO IT!
- want to be Smallholders
- want to be Permaculture Consultants
- want to teach Permaculture
- want to initiate and manage projects
- want to experience what it takes to run a farm or project
- want to use regenerative design to overhaul their land base or business
The program will run on two days a week (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) from 9am to 2.00pm each day. There will be a combination of hands-on work and theory sessions at the City Farm, and site visits to farms and other sites in the region. A full Permaculture Teacher Training course will be included.
During this 12-month program you will receive training & courses that include:
- A deeper understanding of Permaculture Ethics & Design Principles
- Intensive annual & perennial production
- Agroforestry systems
- Design and computer aided design, & redesign
- Planning (lots of planning)
- Recognising and applying patterns (Patterns, patterns, and more patterns)
- Reading landscapes
- Experiencing work with real clients and landscapes
- Project implementation and management (it is all about management)
- Developing community organisations
- Funding your projects
- Organising events
- Holistic context and decision making
- Permaculture teacher training
- Hands-on experience on a 28-year-old permaculture research site

You will have the opportunity to work alongside staff, volunteers, and professionals to observe and learn from them. You will also have the opportunity to work on one or more complex personal design projects, with regular feedback from educators and designers. You are encouraged to keep a Learning Journal to build a portfolio and to make the most of this unique training.
We believe this is a unique opportunity and learning experience, with targeted learning and intensive hands-on experience implementing diverse systems.
