Northey Street City Farm enjoys celebrating seasonal changes with our community.
This year we are celebrating the Autumn Equinox at the Northey Street Organic Farmers Market so everyone can attend.
9:15am Kate & Caroline join harmonic forces for this offering of melodic stories and uplifting music. With the Celtic harp, ukulele, guitar and percussion forming the bones of their sweet original sounds, this acoustic set will move your feet and ease your soul!
10:00am Autumn Equinox Water Honouring and Ceremony
10:15am Kate and Caroline play another acoustic set
11:00am Grow, Share, Yarn quarterly workshop for First Nations people only, to enjoy sitting, talking, sharing, and learning around urban based bush foods and medicines.
There will be a community mandala created from offerings of fruit, food, flowers, feathers, and fibers! Please bring along anything nature based to contribute to the collective artwork. There will also be plenty of offerings provided for you to select from and add your creativity.
As a not-for-profit association and charity, our events are great opportunities for the farm to raise funds. This year you are welcome to donate online or at the City Farm Nursery. Any amount over $2 is a tax deduction. You can also contribute to our pay it forward program where you can donate money to purchase native plants for local First Nations groups. The nursery will also be offering a 10% discount off all pond plants.
There will be a raffle held and drawn on the day and a fund-raising jungle bar operating out of the City Farm Nursery.
You can meet your local organic farmers, show your appreciation to those who grow organic food for you and the earth, and find out what they have harvested locally for you in the turning of the season. Meet local artists who hand make fashion, beauty products or ethical gifts. Bring the kids for some free nature play at the Earth Arts stall.
The Sunday Organic Markets are a beautiful atmosphere for the whole family set under established trees. Bring your friends, grandparents, kids and lovers to enjoy a nutritious organic breakfast, a warming chai, or a cool ale in the setting of our community permaculture gardens. Bring tote bags, veg bags, and keeper cups to make your visit waste free!
See you any Sunday, and at the Autumn Equinox to honour the element of water.
We look forward to celebrating the change of season with you!
