- NEW TO SLW PROGRAM -

Intro to Dynamic Governance

Saturday May 25th – 9am – 4pm

Erin Young is back with more workshops in this exciting new addition to our program!

Sociocracy is a governance tool based on cyclical patterns and feedback; one enabling dynamic, transparent and equitable decision-making, guided by a group’s collective aims. Together we will explore application of the basic integrated framework of ‘dynamic governance’ to any situation in which humans make decisions.

By the end of the workshop, anyone involved in a group with a shared purpose will appreciate the potential of sociocracy to enact authentic and empowering systems for individuals working together in community and commercial environments.

This workshop is about governance and decision making, and while it’s not directly linked to growing food, it is an important part of permaculture’s definition as ‘Permanent Culture. ‘Sociocracy is a system of decision making that’s been bubbling away for over 100 years in one form or another, and is now being used to great benefit in community organisations, intentional communities and even corporates.  See Wikipedia for more of a background on Sociocracy.

Sociocracy has been called permaculture for people. It expresses many of the design principles of permaculture in the way that it operates. It’s also an excellent structure for decision making in common permaculture projects, like community gardens and ecovillages.

Here are a couple of links that talk in greater depths about the links between permaculture and sociocracy, both well worth reading:

Workshop fee is $85, $65 concession for Saturday 25th May.
