POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position: Work for the Dole Supervisor
Hours: 15 hours per week (2 days) Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:00 am to 4 pm
Pay rate: NSCF Award Agreement Level 2, $26.05 per hour permanent part-time position
Contract Position: Six month contract with a review in three months
Responsible to: Green Team Coordinator and Management Committee
Closing date: COB Monday 19th September 2011
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the Work for the Dole program.
- Supervise other program participants as required.
- Liaise with the Green Team Coordinator to facilitate the maintenance of the gardens, orchards, animal systems, green waste, buildings, tools, vehicle and utilities at NSCF with Work for the Dole (WFD) participants.
- Liaise with the Operations Team regarding the involvement of volunteers, and kitchen activities.
- Attend green team meetings and other meetings as required.
- Undertake administrative duties associated with the performance of the position’s specific duties.
- Liaise and Report regularly to Green Team Coordinator.
Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated skill in working supportively with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Qualifications and/or demonstrated ability in Permaculture, orchard maintenance and/or horticulture.
- Demonstrated ability in maintenance of buildings, utilities and tools.
- Project supervision experience, preferably including projects involving unemployed people.
- Experience of, and commitment to, working or volunteering in community organisations.
- Ability to plan, develop, deliver, and evaluate projects.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Working Environment
Northey Street City Farm is a non-profit community project on the banks of Brisbane’s Breakfast Creek in the inner city suburb of Windsor. It has been developed for people to enjoy and participate in using the principles of Permaculture. It is also intended to be a demonstration site where people of all ages can learn through practical, hands on experience.
