Position Description
Position: Work for the Dole Coordinator
Hours: 9 hours per week (2 days) Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:00 am to 12:30 pm
Pay rate: NSCF Award Agreement Level 1 $25 per hour permanent part-time position, plus entitlements
Contract Position: Six month contract with a review in three months
Responsible to: Team Coordinators and Management Committee
Closing date: Monday 13th September 2010, 4:00 pm
Term: 6 months contract (may be on-going, depending on funding)
Specific Duties
1. Coordinate the Work for the Dole program.
2. Liaise with the Operations Team regarding the involvement of volunteers, and kitchen activities.
3. Liaise with the Green Team Coordinator to facilitate the maintenance of the gardens, orchards, animal systems, green waste, buildings, tools, vehicle and utilities at NSCF with Work for the Dole (WFD) participants.
General Duties
1. Work towards achieving the general aims of Northey Street City Farm Association Inc.
2. Facilitate green waste and a range of organic gardening, construction and maintenance tasks.
3. Work as a member of a team of other workers, volunteers and members of the Management Committee.
4. Participate in planning, review or evaluation of projects and other activities of the organisation, as required. This may require attendance at meetings out of hours.
5. Administrative duties associated with the performance of the position’s specific duties.
6. Liaise and Report regularly to Team Coordinators and as necessary to the Operations Team.
7. Attend meetings as required
8. Carry out other duties as required from time to time.
Selection Criteria
1. Demonstrated skill in working supportively with people from diverse backgrounds.
2. Qualifications and/or demonstrated ability in Permaculture, orchard maintenance and/or horticulture.
3. Demonstrated ability in maintenance of buildings, utilities and tools.
4. Project supervision experience, preferably including projects involving unemployed people.
5. Experience of, and commitment to, working or volunteering in community organisations.
6. Ability to plan, develop, deliver and evaluate projects.
7. Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
8. Well-developed verbal, written and computer communication skills.

Additional Information
Northey Street City Farm (NSCF) is an urban community garden run on Permaculture principles and is situated on the banks of the Brisbane River. Activities including volunteering and work programs, Permaculture and horticulture courses, a Coffee Shop, Organic Market, garden nursery and various festivals. It is also intended to be a demonstration site where people of all ages can learn through practical, hands on experience.
