Northey Street City Farm is seeking a part-time Coordinator for the Education Team. The Education Team is one of the Farm’s core enterprises and is responsible for developing and delivering a wide range of permaculture and organic gardening courses and sustainable living workshops.

Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Provide overall coordination and leadership of the education team and its educational activities.
2. Conduct, monitor, and review strategic planning
3. Formulate budgets and monitor financial performance
4. Work with course coordinators to plan new courses and revise existing course plans
5. Arrange and facilitate meetings of the education team
6. Deal with personnel matters, including recruitment, pay and conditions, induction, training, human relations and conflict resolution
7. Liaise internally with:

   Course Coordinators and Trainers

   Office administrator

   Finance administrator

   Promotions coordinator

   Other team leaders

8. Liaise externally with:

   Registered training organisations

   Industry associations

   Funding bodies

9. Attend Team Reps meeting and report to Management Committee as necessary

Hours, Pay and Conditions

Eight hours per week.

$28.16 per hour – Northey Street City Farm Wage ($35.20 inc on costs).

Four weeks holiday per year, 9% super contribution, Workcover, etc.

Commencement: 6 July 2010

Selection criteria

Mandatory

1. Permaculture Design Course
2. Cert IV in Training and Assessment (TAA) or Assessment and Workplace Training (AWT)
3. Teaching experience
4. Management experience
5. Good interpersonal skills and leadership qualities
6. Sound computing and communication skills

Desirable

1. Cert III or higher in Accredited Permaculture Training (APT) – (highly desirable)
2. Permaculture design, implementation and gardening experience
3. Working in community organisations, particularly community gardens
4. Grant writing experience
