Position: Green Jobs Corps Supervisor

Award: NSCF Staff Agreement – part time from 15th April to 29th September 2010
Hours: Twenty two and a half hours per week – 7.5 hours a day on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays
Salary: Currently $25.60 per hour (NSCFW Level 2)
Conditions: Four weeks holiday per year, 9% super contribution, Workcover, sick leave, special leave, training leave, as defined in the NSCF Staff Agreement

Responsible to: Education Team, reporting on a monthly basis, and working day to day under the guidance of the Permaculture trainer.

Roles

1. Supervise a group of ten 17 to 24 year old unemployed people engaged in a Green Jobs Corps Program at Northey Street City Farm (NSCF). They will be developing and maintaining the bush regeneration areas, gardens, orchards, animal pens, nursery and water infrastructure at NSCF.

2. Assist with on the job training in Permaculture at Certificate 2 level of Accredited Permaculture Training Certificate (APT2).

Work Location

Northey Street City Farm, 16 Victoria St, Windsor 4030.

Some work on bush regeneration sites nearby and travel for group excursions will be required. Some driving to pick up participants may also be required.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required

Mandatory
1. Ability to relate to young unemployed people.
2. Experience of supervising groups in outdoor work
3. Permaculture gardening or farming experience
4. A current ‘Blue Card’ (Working with Children suitability check)
5. Driver’s Licence.

Desirable
1. Certificate 3 or higher in Accredited Permaculture Training (APT) or equivalent.
2. Teaching experience
3. Cert IV in Training and Assessment (TAA) or Assessment and Workplace Training (AWT)
4. Experience of working in community organizations, especially community gardens.
