Help us celebrate the sun at its highest point on the longest day of the year.
The ‘Harvest of Summer’ Feast – A seasonal harvest and celebration
Please come and join us for the harvest of Northey Street’s summer abundance of fruit, veggies, herbs and bush-tucker crops. Together we will gather, prepare, cook, preserve, pickle, ferment, dry and store the fruits of our communal work for a full moon/summer solstice feast and celebration. Come and share hands-on skills and knowledge of the harvesting and preparation of the summer foods of SE Qld.
Morning Session, 8-12
Harvest of fruits, veggies, bush-tucker. We begin feast preparation, herb harvest (including preparation and storage of herbs in a variety of ways such as drying and pickling). Bring Garden gloves, hat, water bottle, bags, bottles, jars, camera, pen, notebook, open heart and willingness to share in the abundance of food, skills, plant materials and community spirit
Lunch
Around lunchtime!
Afternoon Session, 2-6
Feast preparation, including pesto, banana flower curry, green papaya salad and much more…
Other Creative Activities, 3-6
Kids’ Space under new building, making flower garlands, faery blessings, mud paintings with Bob (on paper and bodies), drumming with Cole. All this for both kids and adults.
Feast
Approximately 6pm.
At Dusk: Bonfire in the healing space with a Circle of Thanks and Dreams, Music with the soothing tones of local band ‘Cool Vibrations’ Bring along drumming and fire toys!
BYO Any extra Feasting foods and drinks and if you can by 4pm.
Or contribute a vegetable to add to Bunya’s magic stew for shared lunch or evening meal.
